These first draft demo recordings and lyrics are for musicians, singers and others
to familiarize with the material in my recorded catalog. The sound quality is the best that
could be achieved on the now dated analogue equipment we used to capture the songs
and eventually the entire catalog has to be re-recorded. The recorded music beds
for most of the tracks on the albums are available on request and can be used
by singers and musicians to demo their vocal or musical interpretation of the songs.

All lyrical content in this collection is copyright to myself and musical collaborators are mentioned where applicable if the artist helped out with the arrangement and their contributions were included in a recorded version.  Anyone who would like a copy of the music beds or any person who believes they have a valid claim to copyright either musical or lyrical can contact the email address below.

New Generation

Born into the human race on a little green ball in outer space
another generation takes it's place to change our history.
What direction will they go and will they learn from what we know?
How much will they think they owe to the new society?

New generation, new generation old foundation
New generation will be, living in a world of fantasy
looking for a new reality.

As we walk the path of life it's easy to find ourselves in strife
looking for a husband or a wife to raise a family.
In the wink of an eye you find you're old
and the kids won't do a thing they're told.
All of a sudden you lose your hold and the children ... all run free.

New generation, new generation old foundation
new generation, will be, living in a world of fantasy
looking for a new reality.

Born into the human race on a little green ball in outer space
another generation takes it's place to change our history.
What direction will they go and will they learn from what we know?
How much will they think they owe to the new society?

New generation, new generation old foundation
New generation will be, living in a world of fantasy
looking for a new reality.

Art Official Art
You live inside your body, in a house, upon a street.
In a town or in the country, on the world beneath your feet.
The universe around the earth is an infinite sea of stars
in case you had not noticed, that's exactly where you are.

We come from a planet, called Art Star One.
From a new dimension of time and space of shape and form.
Everybody has, a special purpose a mission that began
on the day that, you were born.
When you fulfil, your quest I this life.
You will return to the realm of light it's just a ... dream away.
Back to the world, of imagination, because your life is a never ending holiday.
You woke up from a dream, as a new born child.
To arrive at the point you start because the spirit never dies.

I sing about life, in the name of creation, I sing the facts of art to modern man
and we have got to keep on singing, till he understands.
The law of nature is the law of the land.
This far out world, is Paradise.
It's an open air gallery, of living art.
Art that is growing, towards the sun
and the endless beat of eternity is in your heart.
You are at one with creation and the powers that be
in the silent calm of inner space you can fly through the galaxy.

Imagination, is a river of thought.
That's where the solutions to all your,  problems flow.
It's a river of thought, so let that river run free.
Through the valleys and the mountains that's the way it's meant to be.
It's a river of love,  so let that river run free.
Through the crystal streams and the waterfalls, the flowers and the trees.

I sing about life, In the name of creation, I sing the facts of art to modern man
and we have got to keep on singing, till he understands
the key to creation is in your hand, I sing about life, in the name of Creation.
I sing the facts of art to modern man.
I sing about life, In the name of creation.
The law of Nature … is the law ... of the .. . Land.

The Cause

Everybody is fighting to survive, everybody is fighting to survive
and you can thank your lucky stars you are alive
and you can thank your lucky stars you are alive.
Everybody is fighting for a cause, everybody is fighting for a cause
oh! and little things can soon turn into wars
oh! and little things can soon turn into wars.

Well I say, what's the cause of your existence? what's the cause of war?
what's the cause of all you do and what are you fighting for?
what cause are you fighting for?

Everybody is looking for a clue, everybody is looking for a clue
ah! but all the answers are right inside of you
ah! but all the answers are right inside of you.

And I say, what's the cause of your existence? what's the cause of war?
what's the cause of all you do and what are you fighting for?
what cause are you fighting for?

Everybody is waiting for the day, everybody is waiting for the day
when the troubles of the world have all gone away
oh! when the troubles of the world have all gone away.

And I say, what's the cause of your existence? what's the cause of war?
what's the cause of all you do and what are you fighting for?
what cause are you fighting for?

Metal Skin Creepers

I have seen the metal skin creepers, mining the precious firestone dust.
They scan the surface with their metal detectors
then the drills go down below the crust.

Metal skin creepers, heepers jeepers, metal skin creepers ... everywhere.
There isn't a human among the mob no, I can't see one ... anywhere.

The firestone dust is a deadly fuel, they use it to power the war machine.
The beast of destruction is out of control
and we are closer to the edge than we have ever been.

Metal skin creepers, heepers jeepers, metal skin creepers ... everywhere.
There isn't a human among the mob no, I can't see one ... anywhere.

As we await the closing scene, will the world explode in a flash of light?
Will the story of man be lost forever, as a star goes out in the dead of night?

Metal skin creepers, heepers jeepers, metal skin creepers ... everywhere.
There isn't a human among the mob no ... I can't see one ... anywhere.

THE BIG SMOKE CITY

You're in the Big smoke … Big smoke.
You're in the Big smoke, Big smoke city.
In the Big smoke, Big smoke, you're in the Big smoke.
Big smoke city, Big smoke city, Big smoke city ... Alright!

Well that big smoke city, shows no pity.
All of Gods children, push and shove.
In the hustle, and the bustle, they scavenge around, for scraps of love.

You're in the Big smoke … Big smoke.
You're in the Big smoke, Big smoke city.
In the Big smoke, Big smoke, you're in the Big smoke.
Big smoke city, Big smoke city, Big smoke city ... Alright!

Well that street life circus, makes me so nervous.
The things I've got to do to, earn a crust.
It's a barren waste, a sea of faces, and there isn't a soul that … I can trust.

In the Big smoke, Big smoke, in the Big smoke, Big smoke city.
In the Big smoke … Big smoke, in the Big smoke.
Big smoke city, you bad old city, on the surface you look so pretty.
Big smoke city, Yeah! ... That's my home.

Street lights flashing, among the trash ... crimes of passion, ashes to ashes.

You're in the Big smoke … Big smoke.
You're in the Big smoke, Big smoke city.
In the Big smoke, Big smoke, you're in the Big smoke.
Big smoke city, Big smoke city, Big smoke city ... Alright!

Well there's street light flashing, among the trash.
I'm gonna give that woman just, one more try.
So if you happen to see me,  alone at the bar, buy me one more drink
before I die.

In the Big smoke, Big smoke, in the Big smoke, Big smoke city.
In the Big smoke … Big smoke, in the Big smoke.
Big smoke city, you bad old city, on the surface you look so pretty.
Big smoke city, Yeah! ... That's my home.

In the Big smoke, Big smoke, in the Big smoke.

The News

For the latest information about the world today
you don't have to look too far the news is on it's way.
Well it's on the television, on the radio' o.
You can read it in the paper if you really want to know.

The news is so confusing, the news is not amusing.
The news just keeps on oozing out into my tortured brain.
Radio waves are beaming, the paper boy is screaming
and the weather girl says it looks like we might be in for a little rain.

Here we go again … here we go again … here we go again … here we go again …

Well you’re sitting there in your lounge room
and your eyes are on the TV screen,
you see the pictures and I hear the words,
but you don't know what they mean.
you feel a strange sensation but there's nothing you can do
so you change to another station are you frightened of the truth?

The news is so confusing, the news is not amusing.
The news just keeps on oozing out into my tortured brain.
Radio waves are beaming, the paper boy is screaming
and the weather girl says it looks like we might be in for a little rain.

Here we go again … here we go again …

I'm gonna smash the television and I'll break the radio ' o
and I think I'll burn the paper because I just don't want to know.

The news is so confusing, the news is not amusing.
The news just keeps on oozing out ... into my tortured brain.
Radio waves are beaming, the paper boy is screaming
and the weather girl says it looks like we might be in for a little rain.

Here we go again … here we go again … here we go again … here we go again

The Mess-Age

You stand before the Money God and for mercy you pray.
The chips are down on the trading floor at the end of the day.
You lost it all to the Money game now your dream won't come true.
I don't believe in the Money God and I've got a message here for you.

This is it, this is the Mess-age you've got to read ... between the lines.
This is it, this is the Mess-age, you can't believe a word he says
     he's lying all the time.

The Money God makes a promise that he knows he cannot keep.
Now the debt to the global system, is getting far too steep.
The cost to the world of nature is too far beyond our means.
I don't believe in the Money God cause he ain't quite what he seems
       That's right.

This is it, this is the Mess-age you've got to read ... between the lines.
This is it, this is the Mess-age, you can't believe a word he says
      he's lying all the time.

All alone, in the line of fire, we caught you out to be a liar.
To be a fake, a false Messiah, but now your time, your time has come.

We might just make some history by cleaning up our mess.
If you want to be slave to the Money God, well you can be my guest.
Become a part of the global movement, if you long for world improvement.
You can help us to clean this mess that we have made.
It's just a stage of evolution so be part of the revolution.
Stand up! for your rights to have a say.

If you believe you've got no power and with every passing hour
the situation becomes a little more, out of hand.
Then like tidal wave of terror, expose the fundamental error
in our behaviour upon this timeless ... sacred land … Lord!

This is it, this is the Mess-age, you've got to think between the lines.
This is it, this is the Mess-age, you've got to think between the lines.
This is it, this is the Mess-age, you've got to THINK!  between the lines.
This is it, this is the Mess-age, you've got to think ...'Big!'.

All alone, in the line of fire, we caught you out to be a liar.
To be a fake, a false Messiah, but now your time, your time has come.

The Rainbow Dream

Faster than the speed of thought rainbow circles spiral down
into the middle of a rainbow ring, hand in hand we dance around.

Red, orange, yellow and green, blue and purple rainbow dream.
Red, orange, yellow and green, blue and purple rainbow dream.

Come to where the bluebirds fly, over the rainbow way up high
if birds can fly then so can I, up into the clear blue sky.
Red, orange, yellow and green, blue and purple rainbow dream ...
Red, orange, yellow and green, blue and purple rainbow dream ...

The rainbow aura of the earth, is a gift from Mother Nature to us all at birth
a bridge from darkness into light, a reminder to us all of what is right.

Red, orange, yellow and green blue and purple rainbow dream …

Faster than the speed of thought, rainbow circles spiral down
into the middle of a rainbow ring, hand in hand we dance around.

Red, orange, yellow and green, blue and purple rainbow dream ...
Red, orange, yellow and green, blue and purple rainbow dream.

(This lyric sheet is a return to the original arrangement of the song before ill planned changes were made to the demo recording. It contains notes on which age groups and nationalities should perform each particular verse section)

Once upon a Planet

Once upon a planet in the history of the world

There was a song that became the favorite tune of every boy and girl

On every land across the globe they sang it with optimism and hope

and everybody that heard it had to sing along.

                                          Oh! Yes and …

Once upon a planet when those children sang their song

They sang it loud and they sang it proud, so it confident and strong

It was a tale by human beings, All about being human being

Come on everybody and help us sing our song.

                                         And we sing …

We are all humans ... humans are we

we live on planet earth as she spins around in the galaxy.

When something's bad we ban it, because we love our planet

it's the home of humanity.

Once upon a planet the oceans were all clean

the weather was fine and the earth was rich and the countryside was green.

The air was fresh and pure, the sky was so much bluer

but we changed that when we came on the scene.

                                       Oh! yes we ....

let our poison waste spill into rivers lakes and seas

we changed the weather patterns when we chopped down all the trees.

We filled the air with our pollution, but there is one solution and we call it ... ECOLOGY!

                                                          And we sing ...

We are all humans ... humans are we …

we live on planet earth as she spins around in the galaxy.

When something's bad we ban it, because we love our planet

it's the home of humanity.

Once upon a planet at the edge of the galaxy

at the end of the age of ignorance  and the start of a brand new century.

At the birth of a new generation, and the dawn of a one earth nation

of this multi-cultural family.

                                                         Oh! yes we ...

put aside our differences and we found we were the same

then we put it all down to experience because nobody is to blame.

When we think global and act local, the world becomes our focal point.

we can heal the earth ... in creations name,

                                                And we sing ...

We are all humans ... humans  are we ...

we live on planet earth as she spins around in the galaxy.

When something's bad we ban it, because we love our planet

it's the home of humanity.

(Music slows with a vocal retardation)

Once upon a planet some children sang a song

That soon became so popular the whole world sang along.

It was sung by every nation at a worldwide celebration

By a choir that was ten billion people strong.

                                                        And we sang …

We are all humans ... humans  are we ...

we live on planet earth as she spins around in the galaxy.

When something's bad we ban it, because we love our planet

it's the home of humanity.

(Repeat chorus)

We are all humans ... humans  are we ...

we live on planet earth as she spins around in the galaxy.

When something's bad we ban it, because we love our planet

it's the home … of humanity

(Music slows down with a vocal retardation on the word, …

Hu … ooo! ooo! maaaaan … I … I … I … I …  tee … ee … ee … ee … ee … ee … eeeee!)

THE AGE OF LUXURY

OH! IN ANOTHER HUNDRED YEARS FROM NOW BABY WHAT WILL PEOPLE SAY?
HOW WILL HISTORY JUDGE US FOR THE THINGS WE DID TODAY?
WE’RE KILLING THE WORLD THAT MADE US, FASTER THAN SHE CAN GROW OH! OH! YEAH!
BUT I CAN’T TELL YOU ANYTHING, THAT YOU, DON’T ALREADY KNOW.

THIS IS THE END … THE END OF THE AGE OF LUXURY
THIS COULD BE THE END … THE END FOR YOU AND ME.
AND CAN’T YOU SEE?
EVERYBODY’S TALKING ABOUT A NEW WORLD ORDER IN THE LAND OF DEMOCRACY.
BUT IF WE DON’T ACT NOW WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET IN THE TWENTY FIRST CENTURY.
WE’VE GOT TO CLEAN UP THE MESS WE’VE BEEN MAKING, IF WE ARE EVER TO SURVIVE.
WELL YOU CAN PRAISE THE LORD ABOVE IF YOU WANT TO
THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS YOU ARE ALIVE.

THIS IS THE END, THE END OF THE AGE OF LUXURY.
THIS COULD BE THE END, THE END FOR YOU AND ME
AND CAN’T YOU SEE, OR A NEW BEGINNING.
YEAH! TO THE TWENTY FIRST CENTURY.
WHILE THERE’S A CHANCE OF WINNING, COME ON LET’S MAKE SOME HISTORY
AND IT’S A NEW BEGINNING … YEAH!
WE’VE GOT TO BE FREE … WE’VE GOT TO BE FREE.

IN ANOTHER HUNDRED YEARS FROM NOW BABY WHAT WILL PEOPLE SAY?
HOW WILL HISTORY JUDGE US FOR THE THINGS WE DID TODAY?
WE’RE KILLING THE WORLD THAT MADE US FASTER THAN SHE CAN GROW OH! OH! YEAH!
BUT I CAN’T TELL YOU ANYTHING, THAT YOU, DON’T ALREADY KNOW.

THIS IS THE END, THE END OF THE AGE OF LUXURY.
THIS COULD BE THE END, THE END FOR YOU AND ME
AND CAN’T YOU SEE, OR A NEW BEGINNING.
YEAH! TO THE TWENTY FIRST CENTURY.

THESE OPENING LYRICS ARE AS YET UNRECORDED SO READ FROM ...
'WE’RE GONNA MAKE THIS PLANET A SAFER PLACE TO LIVE'

TELL THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD IT'S TIME TO GET ONTO THE PAGE.
TO BREAK THE LOCK ON THE DOOR AND CLIMB OUT OF THE CAGE.
WE'RE MOVING TOWARDS THE FUTURE PEOPLE,
GOING TO THE SUNNY SIDE OF TOWN.

THIS WORLD

This world is yours and this world is mine.
From the age of love, till the end of time.

We’re gonna make this planet a safer place to live.
We’ve taken away so much but now we’ve got so much to give
We’re doing it for the children … we’re doing it right now baby.

This world is yours and this world is mine.
From the age of love, till the end of time.
This world is yours and this world is mine.
what we do now, will determine our time.

I was led to led to believe we inherit the Earth
To exploit and control for whatever it’s worth.
If the truth were to be known it is the other way around.
It belongs to the children, let’s keep it safe and sound.

This world is yours and this world is mine.
From the age of love, till the end of time.

Planet earth is in a mess, apathy means you don’t care less.
The teen tribe is on the move, teaching the old world to get in the groove.
Take it over baby … take it over right now.

This world is yours and this world is mine.
From the age of love, till the end of time.
This world is yours and this world is mine.
what we do now, will determine our time.

This world is yours and this world is mine.
From the age of love, till the end of time.

Reason or Rhyme

When I look up at the stars in the evening sk
you know it makes me feel so small.
Then my thoughts begin to wander, and it makes me wonder
if there’s a reason for it all.

The secrets of life are a mystery and I suppose we will never ever know.
     If there’s a purpose for creation, it’s a fascination
but I guess that is just how it goes
So sit back and relax, come on and check out the show.

The world is a stage and we are the actors,
in the greatest production of all time.
If you don’t understand, the law of the land
believe me that is not a crime.
Cause there’s no reason, no reason or rhyme.

The law of the land, is the law of man
we are exempt from the laws of nature so it seems
or else then, how could it be, the devastation you see.
Will you heed the call before the earth begins to scream?

The rednecks and the greenies are at loggerheads
and there are points to go in favour of each side.
If there is common ground, you can be sure it will be found
beneath the feet of every person, from both sides.
We are in this together, how ever the truth may divide.

The world is a stage and we are the actors …

(This is a newly written verse as yet unrecorded)

IF YOU LOOK DOWN UPON THE EARTH FROM UP IN, OUTER SPACE
YOU’LL SEE THE CLOSEST THING TO HEAVEN THERE MAY BE.
BUT THERE’S A STICKY SITUATION, IN EVERY SINGLE NATION
BECAUSE PARADISE HAS FALLEN TO IT’S KNEES
IT’S UP TO THE HUMAN SPECIES TO GET IT BACK UP ON IT’S FEET
SO THE CHILDREN WILL GO ON IN HISTORY.
IT’S A STICKY SITUATION, IN EVERY SINGLE NATION
IT’S TIME TO BE THE BEST THAT WE CAN BE.
The world is a stage and we are the actors,
in the greatest production of all time
If you don’t understand the law of the land
believe me that is not a crime. Cause there’s no reason, no reason or rhyme.
Yes there’s no reason, no reason or rhyme.

The Wind Through The Banners

There's an old ragged banner, hanging high up in the trees.
‘Save the World For The Children’, blowing in the breeze.
Land Rights flags and rainbows for all the world to see.
‘Save the World For The Children’ and that's alright by me.

I hear the wind through the banners, when I go to sleep at night.
Rustling through the trees, as I lay by the firelight.
We'll keep those banners flying high my friend, until our work is done.
We're gonna make the world a safer place, for every single one.

We fought hard for the trees in the Nightcap,
     at Chealundi and Wingham state.
At Aidex and at Pine Gap we were chained up to the gate.
At Emerald beach and Bondi we said, 'Keep Our Oceans Clean'.
Save the world for the children and you know what that means.

I hear the wind through the banners when I go to sleep at night ...

You've seen us in the rallies, at the blockades and on TV.
You've heard us tell the whole wide world how we think things should be.
We are the Rainbow Warriors and our work has just begun.
Make the world a safer place ... for every single one.

I hear the wind through the banners when I go to sleep at night ...

There's an old ragged banner, hanging high up in the trees.
‘Save The World for the children’, blowing in the breeze.
Land Rights flags and rainbows for all the world to see.
‘Save The World For The Children’ and that's alright by me.

I hear the wind through the banners when I go to sleep at night.
Rustling through the trees as I lay by the firelight.
We'll keep those banners flying high my friend, until our work is done.
We're gonna make the world a safer place ... for every … single  … one.

THE BUSKING YEARS ALBUM

By

Steven Tripp and Friends

Busking at Paddington markets in the late eighties
with Craig on guitar and Morty on mandolin.

Off the Street        The Rat Race      Better Keep Rocking
The Local Pub Nightclub         Take a Walk      The Bad Old Boys        Stop         Is it Real
The Blood of Jesus       Never Gonna Do it              The Tipi Song        Troppo Love
Actions Speak Louder Than Words          The Trail of Broken Hearts

The ‘Busking Years’

The hay day of my busking career was a thrill a minute joyride through the extravagant and hedonistic years of the nineteen eighties.  The streets of Kings Cross in Sydney were alive with busking activity which spilled into the ‘New Bohemian’ cafés and nightclubs of my red light district playground

My personal theme song is ‘Off The Street’ and it makes me feel like Jack Keroak’s bastard son every time I sing it. The ‘Rat Race’ describes my fast lane existence in the urban jungle as I vowed to beat the odds and be first at the finishing line. The period where I worked as a Stage Roadie for bands who were playing at the old ‘Manzil Room’ is celebrated in ‘Better Keep Rocking’. The late night bars and clubs that came after the Manzil were my favourite hangouts and they provided the inspiration for ‘The Local Pub Nightclub’. 'Take a Walk'  is about remembering the good times. ‘The Bad Old Boys’  is an anthem for the all singing, all dancing larrikins of the world. ‘Stop’  takes optimism to the next level. ‘Is it real?’  is for those who have ever stopped to ponder the sheer magnitude of their own existence.  ‘The Blood of Jesus’ offers a street level commentary on alcohol abuse with a subtle message of moderation. ‘Never Gonna Do it’ has a private chuckle at the promises we all make in love.  The ‘Tipi Song’ was composed in Nimbin on the Northern Rivers of New South Wales when the busking trail and the hippy trail crossed paths, with boys on one side and girls on the other. 'Troppo Love' is a testement to what happened next. Battered by the spirit crushing turmoils of on again, off again relationships‘ Actions Speak Louder Than Words’ is soulful lament spiced with regret and longing.  ‘The Trail of Broken Hearts’ ends the album with an, easy going country ballad dedicated to the many loves this wandering street entertainer encountered on his journey through the ‘Busking Years’.

Off The Street and On the Road

When I was a kid I was a problem child.
Well I didn't fit in cause I was, born wild.
They threw me out of school when I was sixteen
because I whistled at the high school beauty queen.
So I tried my hand, at any job I could find.
But you can't hold a job when you're singing all the time.
A stable existence, was not for me.
Well I might be poor, but at least I'm free.

And I'm, off the streets and on the road
but where I'm heading I, just don't know.
I'm here today, and gone tomorrow, I'm on the move so don't
try to follow me.

I've been singing on the streets for ten long years
for a packet of tobacco and a bottle of beer.
I've seen the best and worst, of human kind
and they call me a legend in my own mind.
Yea! but I don't listen, to praise or blame
from those who ride, on the gravy train.
Retirement plans, are not for me
Well I might be poor, but at least I'm free!

I'm off the streets ... and on the road ...

When I was a kid I was a problem child.
I didn't fit in cause I was born wild.
They threw me out of school when I was sixteen
because I gave it to the high school beauty queen.
I've been singing on the streets for ten long years
for a packet of tobacco and a bottle of beer.
I've seen the best and worst of human kind
and they call me a legend in my own mind.

Yea! but I don't listen to praise or blame
from those who ride on the gravy train.
Retirement plans are not for me
Well I might be poor, but at least I'm free!

And I'm, off the streets and on the road
but where I'm heading I, just don't know.

The Rat Race

Speeding in the fast lane, all systems go.
Bands of light in the corner of my eye, but the traffic is so slow tonight.
Screaming like a banshee, I think I need a rest.
My nerves are shot with a hair trigger.
I've got something, to get off my, chest tonight.

I know, I can handle the pressure, I know I can take the pace.
I've heard all about, the tall poppy syndrome but I know I will win the rat race.

I will win the rat race, I will win the rat race, I will win the rat race
it's only a matter of time.

Fighting off exhaustion, hanging out for sleep.
Always at home with the rising sun, I fall down in a heap don't wake me.
Dreams turn into nightmares, plans go astray.
Another day, another dollar, but still I know that they won't break me.

I know, I can handle the pressure, I know I can take the pace.
I've heard all about the tall poppy syndrome, but I know I will win the rat race.

I will win the rat race, I will win the rat race,
I will win the rat race, it's only a matter of time.
I will win the rat race, I will win the rat race, I will win the rat race
when I leave you behind.

Speeding in the fast lane, all systems go.
Bands of light in the corner of my eye but the traffic is so slow tonight.
Screaming like a banshee, I think I need a rest.
My nerves are shot, with a hair trigger
I've got something, to get off my, chest tonight.

I know, I can handle the pressure, I know I can take the pace.
I've heard all about the tall poppy syndrome, but I know I will win the rat race.

I will win the rat race, I will win the rat race,
I will win the rat race, it's only a matter of time.
I will win the rat race, I will win the rat race, I will win the rat race ...
when I leave you behind … when I leave you behind …
when I leave … you … behind.

We Better Keep Rocking

Well it's one long night, from Monday to Sunday
it's a Rock N’ Roll night club, celluloid dream.
Load in, sound check, hyper tension
load out and then crash, with a gig in between.

Forty two dates, booked for eighteen new cities
on the final leg, of a twelve week tour.
Three grand over budget, with a broken down truck
for Rock and Roll madness, there's no quick cure.

So we better keep rocking, and we better keep, rolling.
Rocking and rolling, till the naked, light of day.

There' a girl on the stage with an all access pass
but she's just another groupie, some promoter let through.
They're knocking down the fence, one side of the stadium
there's a riot breaking out, in aisle sixty two.

The crowd starts to boo! after no second encore
the front man's collapsed, on his way to the van.
So they powder his nose and they boost up his Ego!
he hit centre stage like, no-body else can.

So we better keep rocking ...

At the back stage party, straight after the concert
it's a would be if they could be, star studded affair.
Rock N' Roll hopefuls and cheap champagne,
if there weren't any free bee's, they would not be there.

Tinsel top dance girls, hunting for husbands
vie for attention, from any or all.
the roadies are happy and the dealers cleaned up.
When the boss gets the bill, he's gonna climb the wall.

So we better keep rocking, and we better keep rolling …
Rocking and rolling till the naked light of day.

The Local Pub Nightclub

The taxi driver told me, as we reached our destination
he could smell another war, in the air.
I said look at all the headlines, you don't have to be a genius
to feel the tension, rising everywhere.
Then as I approached the entrance, to the ‘All Night Street Café’
there was a fight in progress, just inside the door.
I had to duck, to miss a bottle, and step over all the bodies
from the top of the stairs, right down to the floor.

I said good evening to the doorman, on another busy night
he said, occupational hazards, of the game.
I made a bee-line for the bar and a place to get my bearings
and I wondered why the  .... I even came?

At the local pub, nightclub it's cops and robbers ... cat and mouse.
They've got, sex and drugs and, 'Rock and Roll'
and they, pack em in until they, fill the house.

I saw my old friend Foxy, he was talking to the Moose
and Bear was there, Spider and all the lads.
They know the words to every chorus
and they sing until they're hoarse
and every nights, the best they … ever had.

At the local pub, nightclub, it's cops and robbers ... cat and mouse.
They've got, sex and drugs and, 'Rock and Roll'
and they pack em in ... until they fill the house.

There is a vast selection of ladies, painted faces straight from Hades
that would make the Adams family, look quite, straight.
In the age of the militant single, it’s a scream to watch them mingle.
They drink and they dance, then they all go home and mate.
The band was really pumping, so I thought I’d boogie on over
Just to check out, all the action, on the floor.
I copped a high heel shoe, right in the foot, an elbow in the face
and various other wounds that, left me sore … ow!

At the local pub, nightclub it's cops and robbers ... cat and mouse
they've got, sex and drugs and, 'Rock and Roll'
and they, pack em in ... until they fill the house.

Take a Walk

I took a walk in the city tonite, the neon lights just passed me by, one by one , two by two
I thought about you and I, walking hand in hand, eye to eye, one by one , two by two

Take a walk, Take a walk, Take a  walk, Take a walk, Take a walk, Take a walk,
In the city tonite, oh! In the city tonite,

Walking down that lonely street, where all the lonely people meet, one by one , two by two
I thought about you and me, and the way it used to be, one by one, two by two

Take a walk, Take a walk, Take a  walk, Take a walk, Take a walk, Take a walk,
In the city tonite, take a walk with your baby, yeah! Yeah!

The night is calling, I got to move my feet.
I feel so restless, surrender to that beat.

Take a walk, Take a walk, Take a walk,
Take a walk, Take a walk, Take a walk,
Take a walk, Take a walk, Take a walk,
Take a walk, Take a walk, Take a walk, yeah!

Take walk, Take walk, Take walk,
Take walk, Take walk, Take walk,
In the city tonite, take a walk with your baby yeah! Yeah!

The night is calling, I got to move my feet.
I feel so restless, surrender to that beat.

Take walk, Take walk, Take walk, Take walk, Take walk, Take walk,
In the city tonite, , take a walk with your baby, yeah! Yeah!

Take walk, Take walk, Take walk,
Take walk, Take walk, Take walk,

The Bad Old Boys From The Good Old Days

Now I can be a good man, oh! and I can, be a bad man.
I can be anyman, anyman that you want me to be.
There are two sides to every story, the pain and the glory.
Success and failure go, hand in hand, walking along, beside me.

They're the bad old boys, from the good old days.
Lock up your daughters, it's time to play.
They make you throw down your tools, and pick up your guitars.
They howl at the moon and they sing to the stars.

Cowboy hats and blue jeans, snakeskin boots and limousines.
Hair brained schemes in the middle age teens.
They're a flock of wild geese just chasing their dreams.
Out along the open highway, in all of your towns a bi-ways.
They come and go with the rodeo show
they love you and leave you and, then they go.

They're the Bad old Boys, from the good old days ...

Sitting in a country bar, they sing for their supper with old guitars.
T chest bass is rumbling, bring on the drinks the boys are grumbling.
That's the life for me, sing it in three part harmony.
Those good old favourite songs, just keep on coming out all night long.

They're the Bad old Boys, from the good old days ...

Now I can be a good man, oh! and I can be a bad man.
I can be anyman, anyman that you want me to be.
There are two sides to every story, the pain and the glory.
Success and failure go, hand in hand, walking along beside me.

They're the bad old boys, from the good old days …

They howl at the moon and sing to the stars.
They love good women and old guitars.
They howl at the moon and sing to the stars.
They love good women and fine guitars.

STOP

One day you're gonna stop. You're gonna look in the mirror.
Oh! and that child you were won't be there anymore.
But in that mirror you will see, the person you've grown up to be
and you won't be who you used to be before ...

You know the summer changes into the autumn
Oh! And the winter changes into spring,
When the night is gone and the sun comes up
It throws a new light on everything.

With my pen in my hand, I stare at the paper.
With every page I write another tree is gone.
The school of life is a never ending lesson
About the way that we should learn to carry on.

The summer changes into the autumn
Oh! And the winter changes into spring,
When the night is gone and the sun comes up
It throws a new light on everything.

The seconds turn into the minutes, oh!
and the hours turn into days,
the weeks, the months and all the years.
Life is a game so come on everybody let’s play.

You know the summer changes into the autumn
Oh! And the winter changes into spring,
When the night is gone and the sun comes up
It throws a new light on everything.

One day you're gonna stop. Your'e gonna look in the mirror.
Oh! and that child you were won't be there anymore.
But in that mirror you will see, the person youv'e grown up to be

Is it Real?

Flying like an angel, with the devil at my heels.
I'm on my way to Heaven, just to find out how it feels.
I need to know the answer, to a most important question.
Tell me is it real or, is it just a dream?

Well! ... is it real or is it just a dream, is it just a dream or is it real?
Oh! and is life a big illusion, I  imagine in my own mind?
Where nothing really is the way it seems.

Walking through the moonlight, with my head so full of stars.
I saw my own reflection and I asked him where we are?
He said I need to know the answer, to a most important question.
Tell me is it real or, is it just a dream?

Is it real or ... is it just a dream ...

Flying like an angel, with the devil at my heels.
I'm on my way to Heaven just to find out how it feels.
I need to know the answer to a most important question.
Tell me is it real or ... is it just a dream?

Well! … is it real or is it just a dream, is it just a dream or is it real?

The Blood of Jesus

I took a walk, on a Sunday morning
down to the old church, at the edge of town.
Outside that church I saw three old men drinking
Sitting on a park bench,  pass the bottle of wine around.

One man sees God, and another sees the devil
in his own reflection, in a glass of wine.
Praise be to the man, who sees the danger
of the slithering snake that, twists upon the vine.

Inside that church, the congregation
took the holy communion, in their usual way.
But the wine they drank, was the blood of Jesus.
Then everybody got down on their knees, and began to pray.

One man sees God, and another sees the devil ...

When the wine ran out, at the bottom of the bottle
An old hat hit the pavement, as the sun went down.
And then those good old boys sang, ‘Fare thee well Titanic’
and the evening choir sang harmonies, all around.

One man sees God, and another sees the devil ...

Now hear me well, and tell your children
of the risk they're taking, in the name of fun.
You know that drunk, sitting over there, dinking on a park bench
can emerge from deep inside of, everyone.

One man sees God, and another sees the devil,
in his own reflection, in a glass of wine.
Praise be to the man, who sees the danger,
of the slithering snake that, twists upon the vine.
Watch out! For, the slithering snake, that twists upon ... the vine.

Never Gonna Do It

Oh! You’ve been running around, playing easy to get
for everybody but not for me.
I had you once but you flew away.
Is that what they mean by free?

Was it something I said? did I come on too strong?
or was it something that I, didn't do?
If I was wrong, I apologise girl, I'd like to make it all up … to you.

And I'm never gonna do it,  never gonna do it.
I'm never gonna do it again ... oh! no no no, I'm ...
never gonna do it,  never gonna do it,  never gonna do it ... again.

You know I, never learn from my own mistakes
and that's where I went wrong.
Older now, but none the wiser.
Singing the same … old song.

And I'm never gonna do it, never gonna do it ...
I’m never gonna do it ... again.

Love can be so complicated, there's got to be a simple way.
Oh!  we’ve got to forget all about the past
Tomorrow is another day. Hey! … Hey! and I'm …
never gonna do it, never gonna do it, never gonna do it ... again.

I never learn, from my own mistakes
and that's where I went wrong.
Older now, but none the wiser.
Singing the same old songs.

And I'm never gonna do it, never gonna do it
I'm never gonna do it again oh! no no no, I'm ...
never gonna do it ...  never gonna do it ...  never gonna do it ... again.

None So Blind

You know there's, none so blind, as those that won't see.
Slow down and take a look at reality.
Everybody in the global family, needs all of the basic necessities.

Everybody got to have food.
Everybody got to have clothes.
Everybody got to have shelter, we’ve got to sing it till the whole world knows.

When I look at all the trouble in the world today,
you know I can't hold back I've got to have my say.
If you've got too much give some of it away
and the world will be a better place one day.

Everybody got to have food.
Everybody got to have clothes.
Everybody got to have shelter, we’ve got to sing it till the whole world knows.

Sing it till the whole world knows ... sing it till the whole world knows.
Sing it till the whole world knows ... sing it till the whole world knows.

You know there's none so blind as those that won't see.
Slow down and take a look at reality.
Everybody in the global family, needs all of the basic necessities.

Everybody got to have food.
Everybody got to have clothes.
Everybody got to have shelter, we’ve got to sing it till the whole world knows.

Sing it till the whole world knows.
We’ve got to sing it till the whole world knows.
Everybody sing it till the whole world knows.
Come on sing it till the whole world knows.

Modern Civilisation

Well it's, modern civilisation and the, high technology boom.
Welcome to the, space age baby, ignore the voice of doom.

Grab yourself a, piece of the action it's, waiting here for you.
haven't you heard the, sky is the limit there's,
nothing that we can't do. Hoo! Hoo!

And it's modern, civilisation, new discoveries, every day hey!
Modern, civilisation, you must admit we have, come a long, way hey!
Modern, civilisation, into the future, come what, may  hey!
Modern, civilisation, nothing is going to, stand in our way hey! hey!

Well if you want to take a look, into the future
it's not too hard, to see.
Just look at your computer, if you want to see though to
how things are going to be.
Flick the switch on the robots, and they will work, for you.
They will clean the house and, work in the garden
there's nothing that they can't do Hoo! Hoo!

And it's modern, civilisation, new discoveries, every day hey!
Modern, civilisation, you must admit we have, come a long, way hey!
Modern, civilisation, into the future, come what, may  hey!
Modern, civilisation, nothing is going to, stand in our way hey! hey!

Now that you've got so much leisure time, what are you going to do?
Now that you've got so much leisure time, what are you going to do?
Now that you've got so much pleasure time, what are you going to do?
No more work and too much play, is that the life for you?
Well, how will you cope if the day ever comes
when technology comes to a halt?
Will there be any among us then, with the courage to, look for the fault?

And it's modern, civilisation, new discoveries, every day hey!
Modern, civilisation, you must admit we have, come a long, way hey!
Modern, civilisation, into the future, come what, may  hey!
Modern, civilisation, nothing is going to, stand in our way hey! hey!

Wake up Australia

The early birds are singing, the day is dawning.
The sun in the sky has, kissed you good morning.
The grass in the garden, is covered with dew
and a familiar voice, is calling out to you.

Wake up now, Australia needs you.
Open up the shutters and, greet the new day.
Pitch in children, and bring home the harvest
if you don't work then you, won't get paid.

Plant the seeds and, lay the foundation.
Brothers and sisters should, all lend a hand.
It's up to us to, set the example,
so the kids would be proud to, inherit this land.

Wake up now, Australia needs you ...

The kookaburra laughs on the edge of town
as the afternoon sun, completes it's round.
You've got to spend your day just, doing your best,
Cause each day is a step on the, road to success.

Wake up now, Australia needs you.
Open up the shutters and, greet the new day.
Pitch in children and, bring home the harvest
if you don't work then you, won't … get … paid.

EASY LIVING

I'm living in a cheap room across the street from the most expensive hotel in the town.
I'm watching all the rich folks tipping the poor folks
living on the top of the world
as the world spins round and round.

Chorus

I'm gonna buy myself a piece of easy living
I'm gonna buy myself a piece of virgin ground.
I'll build a house and raise myself a family
if I ever find it's time to settle on down.

I'm not money hungry I don't need much.
I'm never gonna need too much to get me by.
A simple life is all I ask I'm never gonna need too much to get me high.

Chorus

I'm gonna buy myself a piece of easy living
I'm gonna buy myself a piece of virgin ground.
I'll build a house and raise myself a family
if I ever find it's time to settle on down.

Hey ... hey ... hey ... hey!

I'm gonna buy myself a piece of easy living
I'm gonna buy myself a piece of virgin ground.
I'll build a house and raise myself a family
if I ever find it's time to settle on down.

Time

Time will stop for no-one and the time is moving on.
It's here for just a moment, then before you know it's gone.
So make the most of what you have, because the time is always near.
You can't predict how long it takes, before it disappears.
The pendulum is swinging, keeping numbers for us all
until the clock, strikes midnight ... in the hall.

When I was a child, I was too young to really know
how precious every moment is, I could not wait to grow, into a man.
But now that I am here, the realisation comes to me
it's not the same as I had once imagined it would be, to be a man.

Time will stop for no-one and the time is moving on ...

Hey! … Listen to this.

Time will stop for no-one … and the time is moving on.

Time will stop for no-one … and the time is moving on.

If I ever reach old age, I will remember back to now
grateful for the things, that time and circumstance allow, to be a man.
Before you're even born, you are competing in the race
and the seed that found the egg, was only there through natures grace
since time began.

Time will stop for no-one and the time is moving on.
It's here for just a moment, then before you know it's gone.
So make the most of what you have, because the time is always near
you can't predict how long it takes, before it disappears.
The pendulum is swinging, keeping numbers for us all
until the clock, strikes midnight ... in the hall.

Slaves to Love

I will never be a slave to love again, I will never be a slave to love again.
Now my emotions are all churned up and I don’t know what to do. But I won’t repeat that same old cycle and look for someone new.  I say all you women don’t you get too close cause I’m not the marrying kind.  You can live your own life baby and I’ll get on with mine.
Then we go out of the frying pan into the fire.  Down we go and the flames get higher.  Don’t you think that we have had enough.  If we can’t break that habit we are slaves to love. Slaves to love.
I will never be a slave to love again, I will never be a slave to love ever again.
Now if a certain woman should catch my eye and a signal comes my way.  You can rest assured that I will move in but I will not be swayed.  When two people unite as one through insecurity.  The end result is two half people and that’s no way to be.
Then we go out of the frying pan into the fire.  Down we go and the flames get higher.  Don’t you think that we have had enough.  If we can’t break that habit we are slaves to love. Slaves to love.
I will never be a slave to love again, I will never be a slave to love ever again. Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, again.  Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never again.
Then we go out of the frying pan into the fire.  Down we go and the flames get higher.  Don’t you think that we have had enough.  If we can’t break that habit we are slaves to love. Slaves to love.
Now my emotions are all churned up and I don’t know what to do. But I won’t repeat that same old cycle and look for someone new.  I say all you women don’t you get too close cause I’m not the marrying kind.  You can live your own life baby and I’ll get on with mine.

I will never be a slave to love again, I will never be a slave to love ever again. Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, again.  Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, ever, again.
I will never be a slave to love again,

The Safety Catch

You fall in love at the drop of a hat and you think it is for real. But then something always happens to you to change the way that it makes you feel. You give yourself too freely and you’ll end up getting hurt. Down in the emotional danger zone where lonely people go to flirt with strangers.
When you meet somebody you like you give it your best shot.  You jump into the fire of love and you give it all youv’e got.  Your feelings and emotions pouring out so hot and strong.  But you can avoid the heartache if you keep the safety catch on.
Keep the safety catch on … Keep the safety catch on … then love won’t blow up in your face if you keep the safety catch on… That’s right.
You share your special secrets with a person you can trust. Not with any old ear that will listen you are heading for an emotional bust.
Keep the safety catch on … Keep the safety catch on … then love won’t blow up in your face if you keep the safety catch on … That’s right.

You Make Me Feel Good

Now you are a woman and I am a … man.
Oh! we've been loving each other since, time began.
Ah! ha, but you've got your life and I've got ... mine
and that's how it will be until the, end of time.

Of one thing, I am certain, and of that you, can be sure.
You make me feel good, oh! yeah, you make me feel so good.
You make me feel good, oh! yeah, you make me … feel … so … good.

Ah! please don't say you will, love me ... forever.
it'll take more than a vow to, keep us together.
You and I were, born for each other.
Ah!, ha! to live as friends as, well as lovers.

Of one thing I am certain, and of that you, can be sure.
You make me feel good, oh! yeah, you make me, feel so good.
You make me feel good, oh! yeah, you make me … feel so good.

Now you may think that, I am old fashioned.
I'm talking about money back guaranteed, satisfaction.
I am your soul man, that is, for sure.
Ah! but baby I was nothing, till you, opened the door.

Of one thing, I am certain, and of that you, can be sure.
You make me feel good, oh! yeah, you make me, feel so good.
You make me feel good, oh! yeah, you make me … feel … so … good.

See You in the Summer.

Standing on the shoreline, looking out to sea
I saw you in the distance, but you didn't see me.
Sunset behind you, the wind in your hair
you were pretty as a picture, free and easy, without a care.

We made the sunshine, through the pouring rain
we had a good time, but nothing will ever remain the same.

Palm tree's are swaying, in my memories
there are no words for saying,
the very special way that you made me feel.

We made the sunshine, through the pouring rain
we had a good time, but nothing will ever remain the same.

See you in the summer, same time next year
See you in the summer, next time around, I'm moving on, I'm moving on.
See you in the summer, same time next year
See you in the summer, next time around, I'm moving on, I'm moving on.

Don't you look so sad now, and I won't take long
I'll be back before you notice, I was even gone.
Beyond the blue horizon, and the open sea,
Like a nomad I wander, I drift like the sand in the shifting breeze.

See you in the summer, same time next year
See you in the summer, next time around, I'm moving on, I'm moving on.
See you in the summer, same time next year
See you in the summer, next time around, I'm moving on, I'm moving on.

Magic Moments

I live alone, in my lonely world without you.
I was a fool, for all the cray things I said about you.
Oh! you gave me all the things, a lonely man could ever need.
But now you've gone, you've gone away, away from me.

You saw my soul, I was lost inside my sorrow.
You gave me hope, and helped me look towards tomorrow.
You gave me all the things, a lonely man could ever need.
But now you've gone, you've gone away, away from me.

Magic moments I remember, the flame died to a cooling ember,
those magic moments won't come back again.
Magic moments I remember, the flame died to a cooling ember,
those magic moments won't come back again.

I was afraid, you helped to heal my sad confusion.
You were the one who helped me see through my illusion.
Oh! you gave me all the things, a lonely man could ever need.
But now you've gone, you've gone away, away from me.

Magic moments I remember, the flame died to a cooling ember,
those magic moments won't come back again.
Magic moments I remember, the flame died to a cooling ember,
those magic moments won't come back again.

Magic moments I remember, the flame died to a cooling ember,
those magic moments won't come back again.
Magic moments I remember, the flame died to a cooling ember,

those magic moments won't come back again.

The Dance of a Thousand Skeletons

I can feel, the winds of change.
Blowing cold, against my shoulder.
I am alone, on the road to glory.
At the gates, of the great unknown.

I was the King of the Gypsies
at the dance of a thousand skeletons.
You said listen they're playing our song
and then they did the death march again.
But there was romance in the air
and I would not change that for anything
if we could do it all over again
that would remain exactly the same.
There was romance in the air
at the dance of a thousand skeletons.
Ever since the night that I met you
I have never been the same.

I am the bastard son of a poor man.
You are the Judges daughter.
We went looking for a dream
that was never meant to be.
But when I was, laying down there beside you
I got lost in a sweet sensation
I gave myself to you and you gave yourself to me.

There was a time I thought I knew you.
But then you became a stranger.
I thought I knew you, way back when and so long ago.
I thought I knew you, but then we both started changing.
I thought I knew you, but I guess that it only goes to show.

Now I'm standing by the campfire
and I'm thinking of you.
Flames are rising, into the starlight baby ... but you're not here.

There was a time I thought I knew you.
but then you became a stranger.
I thought I knew you, way back when and so long ago.
I thought I knew you, but then we both started changing.
I thought I knew you, but I guess that it only goes to show.

BEG, BORROW OR STEAL

I had my chance at love and I blew it more than once
now I guess I don't deserve you, any more.
And so to spare you further heartache I'll pursue a new direction
and you won't see me me hanging around your door no more. Oh! no.

Cause Iv'e got one foot in the grave baby
the other foot slipping on the world beneath my feet.
There is no epitaph written on the gravestone,
when a man like me kicks up his heels.
So you go where it's safe and warm
and I will beg, borrow or steal, yes I will
I will beg or borrow, beg or borrow or steal.

I'll go my path alone forever in this life
because the danger I attract should be my own
and so to keep you away from the dark side,
I must leave you in the light,
and that is why I can't make this house my home.

I had my chance at love and I blew it more than once
now I guess I don't deserve you, any more.
And so to spare you further heartache I'll pursue a new direction
and you won't see me me hanging around your door no more. Oh! no.

There is no epitaph written on the gravestone,

and I will beg, borrow or steal, yes I will
I will beg or borrow, beg or borrow or steal.

DAYTIME NIGHTMARE

You hypnotise me with your eyes, I'm in your spell and I can't break free.
I lost my way somewhere, along the line,
but you don't know what you do to me.

I have seen behind your eyes, I have seen through you your disguise,
Now I know what I have to do, because of you, because of you.

Look into my eyes, my love.
Can you tell me what you see,
behind this mask I wear for you,
where I hide the inner me.

I have seen behind your eyes, I have seen through you your disguise,
Now I know what I have to do, because of you, because of you,
because of you, it's all because of you,

You can't decieve me anymore,
I'm not a scapegoat for your lies.
I know so much more, about life, than I believe you realize.

I have seen behind your eyes, I have seen through you your disguise,
Now I know what I have to do, because of you, because of you,
because of you, because of you, it's all because of you,
